1. Refund Eligibility
The refund policy is based on how much time the learner has engaged in a course when a single course has been purchased or the amount of time in the first course of a certification program package purchased. Course completion for refund and transfer purposes will be determined primarily by the amount of designated instructional time completed, as reflected in the learning management system. Where instructional time cannot be determined reliably, DTUI.com LLC may use completed lessons, modules, assessments, assignments, or other course activities to determine the percentage completed.
A participant may request a refund if:
- The refund request is submitted in writing, and
- The participant has completed no more than one-third, or 33%, of the designated instructional time for the first course. For example, for a four-hour course, the participant must not have completed more than 80 minutes of the course.
Once a participant has completed more than one-third of the first course, tuition and program fees are non-refundable except where otherwise required by law or expressly approved in writing by DTUI.com LLC.
Course completion may be determined using learning management system records, including completed lessons, modules, assignments, assessments, activities, or other required course components.
2. Transfer to Another Course or Certification Program
Instead of requesting a refund, a participant may request that tuition already paid be transferred to another eligible Diversity Certification Academy course or certification program.
A transfer may be approved when:
- The participant has completed no more than one-third, or 33%, of the first course in the original course or certification program.
- The transfer request is submitted in writing before the participant exceeds the one-third completion threshold.
- The participant meets the admission or eligibility requirements for the new course or program.
- The requested course or program is available for enrollment.
The amount paid may be applied as a tuition credit toward another eligible course or certification program.
If the new course or program costs more than the available credit, the participant must pay the difference.
If the new course or program costs less, the remaining balance will remain as an educational credit unless otherwise approved by DTUI.com LLC or required by applicable law.
Educational credits are not redeemable for cash.
A transfer does not create a new refund eligibility period. The original registration and payment date continue to govern refund eligibility.
This now makes the policy much easier to administer. There is no separate seven-day clock, no five-day transfer rule, and no two-hour access rule. The key question is simply whether the participant has completed more than 33% of the first course.
